This book contains the written contributions of speakers invited to the 41st Annual Meeting of the Society of General Physiologists, held in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, during September 9-12, 1987. The organizers of that symposium opted for diversity in speakers, convening scientists in a number of areas, with a wide range of interests, who work on blood cells, as a broadening experience.
