This volume contains condensed papers presented in poster form at the sixth International Sodium Pump Meeting, as well as several that are based on workshop contributions. A companion volume, entitled The Sodium Pump: Structure, Mechanism, and Regulation, contains the plenary presentations made during the five-day gathering. Both volumes are divided into thematic sections that follow the organizational format of the meeting itself. Because of its large number of contributors, this volume contains, in addition, an author index. We trust that these printed proceedings convey the sense of excitement and expectation that the participants enjoyed.
