This volume contains the plenary presentations made at the Woods Hole 6th International Sodium Pump Meeting. The companion volume, entitled The Sodium Pump: Recent Developments, contains over one hundred condensed papers presented in poster form during the five-day gathering. Both volumes are divided into thematic sections that follow the organizational format of the meeting itself.
