This volume is a collection of the written contributions of the invited speakers to the 46th Annual Symposium of the Society of General Physiologists, focusing on molecular biology and function of carrier proteins, held in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, 10-13 September 1992. The symposium presentations and the contributions in this volume represent an effort to bring together examples of the best structural and functional approaches to the experimental study of membrane carriers.
